The CRAFT Mitacs Umbrella Program, led by the Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT), aims to strengthen Canada’s microfluidics innovation ecosystem through multisectoral partnerships. This initiative supports internships for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working on projects that address real-world challenges in microfluidics and human health. By connecting academic researchers with hospitals, non-profit and industry partners, the program fosters the development, translation, and commercialization of innovative microfluidic technologies while providing valuable hands-on experience for trainees.

 WHY PARTICIPATE?

Expedited Approval: Projects under the CRAFT umbrella benefit from a 2–3 week approval timeline, with pre-approved scope for research in microfluidics.

Flexible Collaboration: Open to academic researchers working with partners from the private, non-profit or hospital sectors, with funding matched by Mitacs.

Access to Talent: program participants are expected to spend at least 50% of their time working with the partner organization.
